Gary F. Werner is a litigator and trial lawyer whose experience includes work in the areas of land use, planning and zoning, construction, mechanic's liens, and various other commercial and real estate law matters. Prior to joining Berns Ockner & Greenberger, he also litigated and tried matters in the areas of products liability, interstate common carrier transportation, employer intentional tort, and insurance related issues. He has represented national and local developers in zoning and land use related matters, negotiated municipal development agreements, and worked with various city, county and township planning and zoning entities in a wide variety of contexts.

Mr. Werner currently serves as Mayor of the City of Brunswick, Ohio. He previously served for three and one-half years on the City's Board of Zoning Appeals, for four years as that City Council's Ward 1 Councilman, during two of which years he also served as the City's Vice Mayor, and for one year as a Councilman-at-Large. Mr. Werner has chaired the City Council's Planning & Zoning, Finance, and Economic Development Committees, and has been a Council representative to the City's Planning Commission. He has been a member of the Land Use Council of the Home Builders' Association of Greater Cleveland and is a member of the HBA of Medina County. He also regularly lectures at seminars on various topics, which have included land use litigation, township zoning law, regulatory takings, Ohio's marketable title act, annexation, tort reform, and mechanic's lien laws.

Mr. Werner is admitted to practice before the state courts of California and Ohio, the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of California and the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the California, Ohio, American, Medina County, and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations.

Mr. Werner also previously served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Medina Creative Housing, a non-profit organization that provides housing for the mentally disabled.
